Hi, my name is William Pierce, owner of Tulsa Kickboxing in Tulsa, OK. I want to take a moment to welcome you to our website and to say THANK YOU for considering our Kickboxing Classes. I’ve seen so many different kinds of people come through our doors - from the very overweight needing to facilitate serious life change, to the already fit wanting to push themselves mentally and physically. I've seen people make amazing, Life-altering changes, and I've seen people fail.

The thing that all successful students have is the desire to succeed. If you can show up with that, we'll make sure you reach your goals, no matter how big they are.

 

What you need to know is that we are committed to YOUR success. Now, you're going to have to earn it. We've going to push you WAY past your comfort zone, and you WILL want to give up. Those same old demons will poke their head up and tell you you're not strong enough, you're not brave enough, you're out of your league... but deep down, you KNOW you're strong enough. We'll be there every step of the way, and you WILL do it. All you have to do it show up.

So what about YOUR time? To be at your best you need to keep yourself physically strong and mentally sharp. Even though it feels like there's not a minute you can spare, if you DON'T take the time, the results can be disastrous. When we see new members in class, the signs of daily life in the 21st Century are usually pretty (painfully) obvious:

  • Excessive Weight

    As you get older it gets harder and harder to keep your body in good shape. It’s not that you don’t want to, but stress, eating on the go, and life itself starts to show through excessive fat on your hips, thighs, and arms. You CAN get rid of it. It’ll take work, but you CAN. 

  • Lack of Confidence

    As we say in our classes, Confidence is Cultivated. The way you look affects the way you feel, and the way you feel affects every area of your life. If you FEEL strong, you will ACT like you’re strong, and that Confidence will be unmistakeable. 

  • Lack of Social Interaction

    We’re humans – we’re not supposed to be shut up in a cubicle all day, only to come home and turn on the TV (then go to bed and repeat the cycle again and again). Being in class with other people just like you, focused on improving themselves and reaching towards their best is absolutely invaluable to your own personal journey. 

  • Lack of Flexibility

    It’s not like you want to look like a gymnast or something, but as time wears on, our flexibility wanes. This means you don’t move as well, you get injured more easily, and when you DO try to exercise, it feels almost impossible. But after only a few weeks of Kickboxing Classes, you’ll literally feel your muscles relaxing. It can totally change the way you move through your day. 

  • Lack of Motivation

    You can’t just sign up at a big box gym and expect to achieve the kinds of results you truly want. You could hire a personal trainer for $100’s/hr, or you could join a class where you’re driven by not just your own motivation, but by your friends, instructors, and the culture of success that we foster in our school.

I really enjoy the class! I like that it has the four components of warmup, cardio, core, stretch. It helps me stay  focused and on task to know that the component we were working on was just one of four (i.e., it wasn't going to torture me forever :). I also really like that the workout lends itself to accommodating varying levels -- I can make it more difficult with minimal modifications still using only bodyweight.

With An Individual Focus

You'll get to interact and work with other people who share your same goals and challenges, but you won't be compared to them. This isn't high school gym class - there's no "pecking order". It's just a group of people working hard to achieve the things they never thought they were capable of. And you belong with them.

Will I get hit/get hurt?

No! This is specifically a NON-CONTACT class. You will NOT be punching other people or getting punched. Now, you're going to be absolutely slamming a poor punching bag, but that won't hurt you because our professional instructors take the time to ensure your technique is correct each and every class. Frankly, you're far more likely to et hurt on the way to class than actually in class!

How often would I come to class?

We want you to come to class as much as you want! During our Kickstart courses, we have specific class times.

Do I need to be in shape to enroll?

No. Although we definitely suggest maintaining an active lifestyle, if you haven't exercised in years, all of our exercises will be accessible to you. Once you're good at them and getting closer to you goals, you'll be able to increase the intensity as you move through the class. Before you know it, you'll be looking and feeling fantastic.

Can I try it before I sign up?

Essentially, no. Sounds crazy, but we have such a high demand for spaces  in our 6 week courses (they often fill up months in advance) that you have to simply sign up for the 6 week course in order to try it.

However, the fact that it's a 6 week course makes that decision a little easier. If you don't like it, you're not stuck in some month to month class, or a long term contract like at a big box gym. If you do like it, you can sign up for another 6 week course and continue in the class.
